In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.
“Like a comet pulled from orbit, As it passes a sun. Like a stream that meets a boulder, Halfway through the wood. Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better? But I have been changed for good.” Those are the words I console myself at year-end. For last year’s words belong to last year’s language And next year’s words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning. Goodbyes had never been my strong suit. But farewell, 2020.
