Letting Go of Our Ego

Letting go of our ego is an exercise to finding fulfillment, peace, and calmness in our lives. Ego is an identity we create for ourselves.its a self-image we have created to help survive the harsh realities of day to day life. Ego is comparing our positive attributes to someone’s worst attributes and the other way around. We have gotten so busy attaching labels to everything, marking everything in the world that we have forgotten who we are, why we are here on this planet earth and what’s our life’s purpose. We complain all the time, we are so unsatisfied with almost everything around us that we fail to enjoy what we have. Ego makes us believe that we are not enough or that we don’t have enough. Ego is behind our eyes and our knees, manifests itself in different kinds of behavior. Online selfies, using social media for gratification and approval. Addressing the symptom not the root cause has become our daily part of our life. Let’s deep dive into how we can keep our ego under control. Performing selfless deeds and adding value not just to us but also those around us. Being in the present and truly grateful […]

Supercharging Productivity

“Pretend your time is worth $1,000/hr. Would you spend five of them doing extra work for free? Would you waste one on being angry?” –Niklas Göke Most of us have clue what we are doing with our time and yet we complain we dont have enough of it.The main culprit is busyness and lack of focus.Treat time as a resource similar to money and you will get more productive. Time unlike money cant be earned making it even more precious. What should we do ? How can I get more productive ? Here is the thing folks power concentrates around us, being consistent in your routine and sticking to it no matter what is the only way you are going to be productive.Consistency helps create psychological spikes and ticking items off your daily to do checklist provides a dopamine kick to the brain. A technique I have personally found very effective is timeblocking my days into chunks. If I can get in the zone for 3 hrs, stay uninterrupted I feel I get a lot done. You can’t keep waiting for inspiration to strike or when you have a good mood. You have to be in the moment and […]

The Ultimate Guide to Visiting China

Shanghai and Beijing are two of China’s most famous cities, and it’s not hard to see why. Each offer some incredible sights to see, but there’s so much more to China outside of these places.Xi’an, Hangzhou, and Suzhou are three cities. I travelled to Suzhou for work and it was one of the amazng trips I have been on. If you are going to China but don’t speak Mandarin don’t worry you can still have a great time and not get lost. P.S I did get lost once for a few hours, thanks to DiDi(equivalent of Uber in China). Before your trip Setup your phone with apps: Google offline translate with Chinese dictionary downloaded , DiDi, offline maps,Alipay,WeChat(optional) Carry cash, AMEX, VISA most international cards just won’t work and it save you a lot of pain. I will recommend carrying around $2000CNY for a decent 3 week long trip, unless you plan to splurge If you are vegetarian pack alternate sources of food, dry fruits, rice cakes, nut butters, smoothie mixes, noodles Carry a windbreaker, gloves and comfortable shoes  A good backpack will save you from a lot of trouble if you are like me and enjoy exploring a city […]

Splurge or Save ?

‘What to Wear’ sums up the dilemma every woman goes through in the morning.Don’t we all want to stay up to date with the current trends and wish to have couture in our wardrobe? But what happens when we go out shopping and find the cost exceeding a weeks paycheque ?Do I really need that pair of boots? Should I spend 10k on that exquisite leather biker jacket? to answer these questions go ahead. It all boils down to one burning questions should I splurge or should I save.To sort out your dilemma on splurge vs save, I’ve crafted this post to guide you through the decision making process.     When going to shop buy classic splurges-items that will stay in your wardrobe for atlas 6 months and the ones you’ll wear multiple times.Make sure you shop  basics before  couture.Believe it or not, there is a method to buying expensive clothes, in order to maximise style for the price you pay. Here is a magic formula you need to keep in mind “Cost-per-Wear” which equals Cost /Number of times its worn.     The Magic Shopping Formula   ‘Splurge’  vs  ‘Save’     “Cost-per-Wear” = Cost /Number of times its worn       The […]

My 10 favourite things for Spring

Writing this blog post on my flight( read endlessly long flight) from my hometown to Bangalore. Ironically enough the time I spend in the air is half of the time spent commuting to the airport.Anyway I am not going to rant about things I have no control over in this post. I have started using an app called “Breathe” to cope with problems like slow moving traffic. I often found myself getting worked up when stuck in traffic or when getting late to work despite starting an hour early. Then I decided to change and I started with short sessions for mindfulness and just focus on my breathing when I feel anxious. I speak from personal experience, it helped me a lot from getting impatient , frustrated and anxious. If you start your day on a happy and cheerful note you feel more energetic and productive.I would highly recommend you to try deep breathing everyday few minutes when you find yourself gripped with any emotion. Its a great remedy for stress. This is why my 1st favourite thing for spring is deep breathing and practicing mindful meditation. If you know me and think you do I love food and I love butter. On an […]

In My Happy Place #8thMarch

Happy Women’s Day folks 🙂 The entire week of March is celebrated to honour women. We live in troubled times but luckily most of us are blessed to have powerful strong women around us who inspire us daily to become better leaders for a bright tomorrow. I have been lucky to have around me women from all age group who have defied the laws of the society, have overly impressive careers while having it all at home. I also know of women for whom kids don’t come before their personal ambitions and that is cool. A women’s job is not to be a mom its to be whatever they want to be.I find it very disappointing to see so much hate on social media for women who openly speak on their choices and thoughts on child rearing and prioritising their personal life over family. There are instances where I see hurtful comments like a women over 30 is disgusting, gender biased and stereotype commercials, offensive merchandise with slogans that are not the right kind of message to send out. I don’t ask for special treatment based on gender but I do ask for not going ahead with an assumption that […]

An Ode to Dead Humanity #SYRIANcrisis

I am sorry for putting a crimp in your day. This post is written following the events of the extremely unfortunate Syrian war thats in progress has had 400 people killed so far out of which 150 are innocent kids. For more information please feel free to read this guardian post .The internet is filled with disturbing imagery and videos, but no helps seems to reach the people in need. The cease fire on airstrike to help the injured and survivors with aid and supplies has stopped and the fate of the poor people is left distraught.Thousands die everyday and we all watch it in silence and ignore. Why is the world quiet about this ? Does the image of a baby lying dead by the sea shore while his parents tried to help him escape doesn’t stir you up? Are we still humans ? Are we capable of feeling anything anymore ? How much longer will this continue? Is there any hope ? What are we doing to the children and their future? You think its easy to cope with the death of a parent ? These people are losing their entire families for years now.How many more innocent people […]
