Taking the Leap: My First Skydive Adventure
Like many people, I’ve always played it safe and stayed well within my comfort zone. But lately I’ve felt the urge to shake things up and challenge myself. So when my friend suggested we try skydiving, I decided to silence my inner worrywart and just go for it!After settling on GoJump America, which operates out of Jean, Nevada, we booked ourselves on a weekend tandem jump. On the big day, we showed up bright and early, signed our liability waivers (eek), and suited up in jumpsuits, goggles and helmets.
After a 30 minute crash course from our experienced instructors, we loaded up into the tiny Cessna. My heart raced as the plane ascended 13,000 feet into the air. One by one, each jumper and instructor pair leapt out of the plane. When it was my turn, I took a deep breath and on the count of three…jumped! The free fall was incredible – a surreal 60 seconds of soaring through clouds and feeling weightless. As the desert landscape rushed toward me, I felt a thrill of adrenaline and accomplishment. The parachute opened with a reassuring tug and I could take in the stunning 360 degree views around me. My instructor let me steer us back down to solid ground. Before I knew it, I was on the ground processing what I’d just accomplished.
Stepping way outside your comfort zone is so rewarding. My skydive adventure gave me an exhilarating rush along with a major confidence boost. Who knew what I was capable of?!I returned home already planning my next thrill-seeking excursion. Maybe a hot air balloon ride or whitewater rafting trip? The world is filled with exciting, heart-pumping experiences. We just have to be bold enough to go out there and try them.Start making your own bucket list of adventures that call to you. Sign up for that surfing or rock climbing lesson. Trek through the backcountry. The adrenaline rush and sense of achievement is worth facing your fears and challenging your limits. You’ll uncover a version of yourself that embraces life’s thrill rides.
Take the Plunge with GoJump America!
If you’re looking for an unforgettable skydiving adventure in the Las Vegas area, GoJump America is the place to go. I recently did a tandem jump with GoJump outside of Boulder City and had the time of my life!
GoJump America has perfected the skydiving experience for first-timers and pros alike. Their facility is located conveniently just 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, right on the outskirts of Boulder City.
After booking online, I arrived at 9am on a Saturday ready to jump out of a plane! The staff at GoJump were incredibly friendly, walking me through the whole process step-by-step. We did about 30 minutes of ground training, where I learned the proper skydiving form and what to expect.
Before I knew it, I was suited up in a jumpsuit and gear and boarding the plane with my instructor Mike. The views were breathtaking as we ascended 14,000 feet over the stunning Nevada landscape. At the open door, Mike had me repeat the position one last time – head back, arms open, legs out, eyes on the horizon. On the count of three…we jumped! The adrenaline rush of free falling at over 100 mph was out of this world. After about 60 seconds of enjoying the insane views, Mike deployed the parachute. We then had a smooth 5 minute descent taking in the desert and Lake Mead below us. Landing was super soft and easy.
I was grinning ear to ear the whole time. The GoJump team made sure I had an awesome first skydiving experience from start to finish. I highly recommend them for tandem jumps. And if you get hooked like I did, you can return to get certified for solo jumps!Don’t miss out on the thrill of a lifetime – book your skydive with GoJump America today!
