Cosmetic industry is so unregulated, there are unproven claims for expensive skin creams, toners, serums, oils that make your skin radiant, ageless and supple. It surprises me why we spend so much money on store bought cosmetics when our pantry is filled with everything we need for perfect skin and hair. Flawless skin is a gift and you can work towards having a better quality skin.
Some simple easy to do remedies include: use lentil flours and natural ingredients to make homemade face mask and bath powder. By committing to a more informed and diligent skin care regimen, one can greatly improve the health and appearance of the skin. There is a oil out there for everyone, how would you feel if I told you that in less than 20min you can whip up the most luxurious body butters you every tried ? What’s better ? they are edible. A simple rule of thumb to stay away from chemicals is not feed your skin what you wont feed yourself.
One of my favourite ways to relax is a foot soak with rose and lavender essential oils and epsom salt. After the chaotic weekday, rainy gloomy weather, and just life, a rose petal bath soak is much appreciated. I cannot wait to play around with more bath soak recipes, so stay tuned. There are a very few ingredients that you need to make a foot or a bath soak.
- Dried Rose Petals
- Epsom Salt
- Himalayan Pink Salt
- Rose Essential Oil
- Lavender Essential Oil
Mix all of these ingredients together and fill up a glass masor jar or a burleq pouch to have a fragrant pouch ready whenever you want to draw yourself a bath.
Now let’s talk lotion bars. Travel friendly moisturising and fragrant natural and organic.
Again these are simpe to make as well , all you need is some good quality beeswax, raw shea butter, raw cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, coocnut oil ,grapeseed oil, olive oil, essential oil of your choice.Make sure you don’t add essential oil when your mixture is hot. Don’t heat essential oils. Also if you want to kick it up a notch add some freshly grated zest of some lemons, oranges and some coffee grinds , tea leaves for that extra fragrance.I used jasmine tea leaves, coffee, rose petals and citrus zest to flavour mine.
Let’s talk homemade soaps now. I can’t stress enough how good rice water is for your skin. Lets make some rice based soap. I picked lavender because I feel its so rejuvenating and calming. Another great combination is lemon with green tea or Rose with coconut milk. You can add coffee grinds and citrus zest to convert your soap into a gentle exfoliating bar.
Making soap at home doesn’t have to be stressful, its a quick and easy activity with a handful of ingredients you can find online or in the farmers market.

- 2 vitamin E capsules
- 2 teaspoons of rice flour
